ICT Cluster Bulgaria is a partner in the European project PowerUP NetZero, an initiative designed to boost the development and adoption of technologies that support the transition toward a net-zero and digitally driven economy.
The project connects SMEs, clusters, public authorities and industry leaders across Europe to foster innovation, collaboration and real market impact.

Project Objectives

PowerUP NetZero aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises:

• develop innovative solutions for achieving net-zero emissions;
• adopt new technologies and improve existing processes;
• access funding opportunities and trusted partners;
• gain new skills through training and knowledge-sharing activities.

The project focuses on sectors and technologies that play a key role in Europe’s decarbonisation efforts.

Key Technology Areas

PowerUP NetZero supports solutions in the fields of:

• Solar energy
• Battery systems and energy storage
• Hydrogen technologies (H₂)
• Sustainable biogas and biomethane
• Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)

Who Stands Behind the Project?

The initiative is implemented by a strong international consortium representing six EU Member States:

• TECES – Green Tech Cluster (Slovenia)

The consortium brings together more than 80 European clusters, regional innovation ecosystems and stakeholders committed to advancing net-zero technologies.

Who Can Benefit?

The project targets:

SMEs and Start-ups

• developing net-zero technologies or applications;
• digital SMEs looking to enter the net-zero technology market.

Clusters and innovation networks

• supporting the deployment of decarbonisation solutions.

Corporates, cities and public institutions

• pursuing climate targets or seeking net-zero technology partners.

Main Activities

1. Needs Assessment & Mapping

Analysis of the needs of companies, cities and organisations to identify key challenges in the net-zero technology landscape.

2. Training & Knowledge Transfer

• online workshops, training sessions and webinars;
• focus on digitalisation and cross-sector collaboration;
• participation of at least 50 organisations.

3. Financial Support for Third Parties

Two open calls will be launched in 2026:

• €1.995 million total budget;
• 45 SMEs and start-ups will receive direct funding;
• support for business innovation and collaborative technology projects.

4. Additional Support for SMEs

At least 12 companies will receive tailored guidance on funding opportunities, partnerships and scaling their solutions.

ICT Cluster Bulgaria’s Role

As a project partner, ICT Cluster Bulgaria will contribute to:

• connecting Bulgarian SMEs with European innovation ecosystems;
• providing insights into funding schemes and collaboration opportunities;
• facilitating participation in training programmes and innovation activities;
• supporting the integration of digital solutions within net-zero technologies.
